Sometimes Best Friends Come With Funny Faces

“Sometimes Best Friends Come With Funny Faces” By Matt Hubert © 2004

The only one who’s home alone more than me is you.
And you’re the only one who speaks up even less than I do.
Yet you don’t complain, and you love no matter what, no matter where.
You even love me though it took me until now to even care.

You’ll play with me or let me talk.
You’ll be still with me or go for a walk.
Man, I’m a man in desperate need of a friend.
And they say you’re the best to make that problem end.

Sometimes best friends come with funny faces.
And best friends come from unusual places.
But who would’ve thought I’d come this far.
To realize that this moment, my best friend you are.

So here’s the deal, I was wrong.
I just wouldn’t give you a chance for much too long.
Thankfully you’re quick to forgive and forget.
Because after all you are my dog, Rocket.
