What Is Christmas?

“What is Christmas?” By Matt Hubert © 2004

It’s the silent sound of snowfall, falling softly on the trees.
It’s the winter wind blowing coolly, frostily chilling with its breeze.
It’s the sounds of Christmas carolers as their voices sing with joy.
It’s the smiles on all the faces of every girl and every boy.

It’s the time spent wrapping presents to be set beneath the tree.
It’s the time spent thinking of others rather than selfishly of me.
It’s the family gathering and celebrating, enjoying one another’s company.
It’s the Jack Frost nose and mistletoe and it’s the bows of holly.

It’s the birth of a Savior. It’s the birth of a King.
It’s the one day of the year that is all about giving.
It’s the presents that one gives to all the people one loves.
It’s the love that one gets from all those same people above.

It’s the picturesque, Hollywood, Kodak moment of the year.
It’s the moment the kid’s eyes light up as he smiles ear to ear.
It’s the feeling one has when everything feels just right.
It’s the feeling of sharing that warm Christmas Eve night.

It’s the knowing that there’s someone who’ll never let you be alone.
It’s the glitter that you saw when on her that light shone.
It’s the season of giving and the season of love.
It’s the time to stop dreaming and to start thinking of.

It’s the most wonderful day of the whole entire year.
It’s the day when one just cannot help but be filled with cheer.
It’s the day for the children, the parents, and for all those who care.
It’s the greatest day of all, as long as you’ll be with me there.
