For Teens to Twentysomethings

“For Teens to Twentysomethings” by Matt Hubert © 2004

I metaphorically explore the situations that I am placed in.
I’m expressing, I’m confessing a vision. It’s God’s blessing.
Lessons learned manifest from experience; I’m convinced.
Are you hearin’ this while you drink? One too many to straight think.

Don’t confuse this with correction. I’m just offering you suggestions.
Not lookin’ my way for answers? Don’t abuse me with the questions.
Altruistically altering paths for teens to twentysomethings.
Plenty people mumbling. Wondering what I’m becoming.

Mind movin’ fast at a million miles per hour.
Thoughts waitin’ to burst out like water from a shower.
Contemplatin’ conjugation of the words and the verbs.
Nervous energy transformed to make a new voice heard.

Uniquely uttering a message to confound and astound.
Words clearly spoken, never stuttered, perhaps considered profound.
Lost and found: a life of meaning, meaning my life so now
Please gather ‘round to hear the words I’m screamin’, screamin’ out loud.

Follow my path paved with precision to see with clearer vision
My decision: tell you to listen. My words have wisdom in ‘em.
It’s a verbal revolution, problem-solving solution,
Weapon of mass construction to combat mind pollution.

Conscientiously objecting to this life I’ve been subject to.
Pretentious peers keep disconnecting. I don’t wanna be just like you.
Paving a path of satisfaction on the road covered by Frost.
Sacrificing friendly reaction to win back what’s been lost.
