Bawdy Language

“Bawdy Language” By Matt Hubert © 2005

Words come together to produce a new phrase,
teaching a lesson that rivals the Bible.
No one questions the message these days.

Rhythm and rhyme intertwine on a page.
Read between the lines, and dirty
words come together to produce a new phrase.

Everyone enjoys fine assonance always—
whether hidden in the text or displayed openly.
No one questions the message these days.

Exotic enjambment creates a poetic craze
when pens press against paper. Later,
words come together to produce a new phrase.

Simile and metaphor read like a maze
when standards are dropped for one single stanza.
No one questions the message these days.

The power of the pen grows and stays
writing until its ink fills the page when
words come together to produce a new phrase.
No one questions the message these days.
